New USGS derived CTX & HiRISE datasets (STAC)

I paste here some new pieces of information from USGS Astrogeology, wrt availability of NASA MRO CTX and HiRISE derived datasets. Originally shared on OP Slack by J. Laura

CTX

USGS Analysis Ready Data Release Announcement: USGS Astrogeology have released 4815 MRO CTX DTMs generated using the NASA Ames Stereo Pipeline to the NASA/Amazon Open Data Registry. These DTMs were created using globally relatively controlled CTX data (bundle adjusted) and then absolutely controlled to MOLA using pc_align . Therefore, they are absolutely controlled to the current reference frame! The products include, DTMs, hill shades, and left image orthoimage, plus intersection error and quality assurance metrics (from geodiff ).

HiRISE

USGS Analysis Ready Data Release Announcement: USGS Astrogeology have released over 155,000 HiRISE RDRs (> 114TiB) to the NASA/Amazon Open Data Registry. These data are processed from the PDS RDR archive to be cloud optimized GeoTiffs (16 bit with scale/offset encoded). The equatorial data are all projected to IAU2015:49910 (so they have a consistent projection across all equatorial products).

If you use the data, integrate the API into one of your projects, or have questions, we would love to discuss more: Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) High Resolution Science Experiments (HiRISE) Uncontrolled Observations · DOI-USGS/planetary-ard · Discussion #12 · GitHub

the link to above browsing doesn’t work for me. this one works: USGS Astrogeology Planetary ARD

ah but then drilling down to USGS Astrogeology Planetary ARD again does not work. government shutdown?

Hi Michael, just letting you know the link in your comment works for me. I’m using FireFox or maybe it was just down at that moment

This link (taken from my last comment on Oct.2)

errors out for me, both in Brave and Firefox browsers:

It works for you?

Some links are acting up for me also. I do like to start from the main data pages (left side): Data | Astrogeology Analysis Ready Data https://stac.astrogeology.usgs.gov/docs/data/

Or the search page seems to working well also:
USGS Astrogeology Planetary ARD https://stac.astrogeology.usgs.gov/browser-dev/#/search/

I do like to start from the main data pages (left side): Data | Astrogeology Analysis Ready Data

yes, but if you then pick “HiRISE DTMs and Orthoimages”

and then “Via a data browser”, it gives above error.

bummer - Looks like the link to browser is not set correctly. I will report but not sure how quickly it can be updated.

Until then, try this link: USGS Astrogeology Planetary ARD

Using the STAC browser has always been a little bit of challenge for planetary. We didn’t write it (great), but we have some growing pains. This issue looks like our side though.
